Diagram with the side view of the 900mm non-climb zone.
There is to be no footholds, toeholds, furniture or any other object deeper than 10mm within the 900mm non-climbable zone on the outside of the pool fence.
Climbable objects such as tree branches or shrubs are permitted within the upper 900mm quadrant of the non-climb zone only if it is reasonable that a child could not gain access to those climbable objects.
The additional 1200mm clear area must be free of any objects that will compromise the effective height of the pool fence. Objects such as tree stumps and branches, taps and plumbing, steps, pot plants, furniture and ground surface must be removed from the 1200mm additional clear area to maintain the effective height of the pool fence.
Additionally, the is a 300mm clear area on the inside of the fence measured horizontally inward.
No horizontal surfaces are to be found in this area with the exception of horizontal rails provided they measure less than 10mm. Pot plants, shrubs, branches, outdoor furniture, taps and plumbing must not be found within the 300mm clear area to maintain the effective height of the pool fence.
